You already know your photos carry hidden metadata — GPS coordinates, timestamps, camera serial numbers, all sitting quietly inside the file. What most people don't realise is that every video you film has the exact same problem. That MP4 you took at your kid's birthday party, the MOV clip you're about to post to Instagram — both are carrying the same location and device data as a photo, and until now ClearShare couldn't touch it.
That changes with 1.1.0.
What's new
Video metadata removal (MP4 & MOV). ClearShare now reads and strips metadata from video files the same way it's always handled photos — GPS coordinates, timestamps, device information, all visible and removable before you share.
Manufacturer camera data. Phones and cameras from Samsung, Canon, Nikon, Sony and others write their own proprietary "maker notes" into files — extra identifying details that sit outside the standard EXIF fields most tools check. ClearShare now finds and removes these too.
Hidden duplicate images. This one's easy to miss: a photo can secretly carry smaller copies of itself embedded inside the file — thumbnails, motion-photo frames, HDR frames. You can clean the main image perfectly and still have an untouched original sitting inside it, GPS coordinates and all. ClearShare now finds and strips these embedded copies so nothing leaks through the back door.
Reusable presets. If you're cleaning the same kind of file the same way every time — say, stripping everything except the date before listing items for sale — you can now save that as a preset. One tap instead of re-selecting the same removals every time.
More languages for text redaction. The premium text redaction tool, which finds and blurs things like number plates and name badges, now supports more languages and scripts via downloadable language packs.
Performance, accessibility, and general usability improvements throughout the app.
Why the video support matters
Video is where a lot of people's guard drops. There's an instinct to strip metadata from a photo before posting it — plenty of people already know to do that much. Video doesn't get the same scrutiny, partly because until now there wasn't an easy mobile tool to check it. But the phone in your pocket writes the same GPS coordinates and timestamps into a video clip that it writes into a photo. If you've been stripping your photos and sharing your videos unchecked, the videos were the gap.
Same rules as always
Nothing about how ClearShare works has changed: everything happens on your phone, nothing gets uploaded anywhere, no account, no ads, no tracking. That was true for photos in 1.0 and it's true for video in 1.1.0.
